REUNION 2022 HOTEL ISSUES RESOLVED

Post by ELT627 »

UPDATE TO MAKE RESERVATIONS AT THE HOTEL
WHEN YOU CALL FOR RESERVATIONS,
THE HOTEL TRUNCATED THE NAME
SO ASK FOR
USS JAMES WHEN MAKING RESERVATIONS

CALL 409-750-9192 TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS, ASK FOR THE USS JAMES MADISON REUNION. THE BLOCK OF ROOMS IS NOW SET

If there are and difficulties ask for the hotel manager Gloria Nares. She was exceptionally helpful in resolving the issue yesterday.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Yesterday, I went to Galveston with Grady Harrison to resolve the problem with the hotel. It seems that we have been through 4 different sales associates since we began in 2020 and 3 since we resumed negotiations. Covid has really been the big issue to the staffing problems. We met with the hotel manager who was very apologetic and very anxious to help us. We discovered that the last sales person's Mom had died and she left unexpectedly and there was no turnover of information. In fact the hotel manager did not even have a copy of the signed contract. We had taken an extra copy with us and that solved all the problems. No one at the reception desk knew of our contract and therefore the answers you received when you made your reservations. The hotel manager is Gloria Nares and she has set aside our block of rooms and is going to check for reservations already made and move them to the assigned block. It would probably be useful for those who have reservations to email Ms Nares at gloria.nares@fourpointsgalveston.com to confirm that your reservations are in the Reunion block. We confirmed that the room rate was still valid for three days before and three days after our reunion days for those who wanted an extended stay.
We will shortly be putting out info for registrations and tours. One great note is that on Saturday we will visit Seawolf Park and hold our memorial service and we will use a handicap accessible bus to shuttle folks back and forth from the hotel to the park so that you will not have to worry about parking and everyone can be accommodated on the bus including wheelchairs etc. This is being provided by Dr. H. L Cares who was a plankowner doctor and a renowned Neurosurgeon in the Boston area.
