RTC Orlando Reunion

Post by Keith Holman »

Happened upon this today.
October 12–16, 2016
RTC ORLANDO REUNION 2016
REGISTRATION BEGINS JULY 20, 2015

The U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida was one of three recruit training sites for men and from 1972 to 1994, was the only boot camp for females. More than 650,000 recruits passed through its gates before it was closed and revitalized into what is now the beautiful Baldwin Park neighborhood and Blue Jacket Park.

The idea for the reunion was born three years ago in a RTC group online and was originally scheduled to coincide with the installation and unveiling of the Lone Sailor Memorial at Blue Jacket Park. A reunion was brought up in other online groups over the years and so the RTC ORLANDO REUNION was formally launched in January 2015. With thousands of former recruits and company commanders spanning a 26-year history, the reunion hopes to reunite many boot camp friends and companies for years to come.

Interesting idea. I wonder if anyone still keeps in contact with someone he met in boot camp.
