Hansen ?
one of the funniest individuals in the engineroom. Check out his
picture in uniform pier side in Fort Lauderdale in january of '85
(look at photos, folder Hansen). He's the comedian with the curly
straws on the breasts...
That was before scrapping (if you can ignore my involuntary efforts at
early decommissioning and scrapping the boat)

Grady

Scott,
On the subject of our great Engineroom upper level watchstanders,
please jog my memory : We had an 1st class RO whom I'll only
identify by his initials : McClellan (AKA the King of Maneuvering)
who treated the ERUL watch as a coolie lackey dog. He'd take the 2MC
and order the ERUL watch to maneuvering to refill his coffee for
example several times during the midwatch. One ERUL watch revolted
one night and went to the SSTGs with the King's cup, carefully
rubbed one of his extremities on the rim of the cup before filling
it with coffee and returning it to the King. THe ERUL watch stood at
the maneuvering chain for a good while watching the King drink the
coffee, with a look of absolute contentment on his face.
Scott, help me, who was it ? I am sure that couldn't have been you.

That was not me, but may have been one of the aforementioned funny men. It used to piss off a bunch of the erul watches off. Don't forget the pd8 and rex either. And I forgot about the very quiet funny man in mdiv, my sea-daddy dave. You never knew what he was up to. Or maybe even hepler. For that matter the incident probably wasn't an isolated one now was it. Damn mdiv guys were sick. And that look of contentment, every one knew that all the ro's were the underway wives.

Scott,
I won't take the discussion into underway wives, had a great time
with ROs and maneuvering watchstanders even after I accidently
kicked and spilled the sea monkeys (prehistoric microscopic brine
shrimp) we were raising in Grade A Pure Water in maneuvering. The
called me killer for a few days and got over it...

Hansen;
Actually the TDU held a special place in memory for me as it was a TDU
container from which I drank my DOLPHINS in 1968 and yes plenty of beer and
other things were included and/or dissolved. So beer is cool as are all
Sumariners, But I still have a taste in my mouth from '68.
Certainly not recommended for home use....

As a former upper level watch I can honestly say that the boys in maneuvering were usually polite when requesting a cup of coffee however on a occasion temptation got the best of me when I served their coffee with a new stainless steel nut in the bottom of each cup.
