Listings on "Rest Your Oars"

Post by Keith Holman »

From the Mission Statement of BYLAWS OF THE USS JAMES MADISON (SSBN 627) ASSOCIATION, INC.:
The Mission of the U.S.S. James Madison (SSBN 627) Association is to carry on programs to perpetuate the memory of the deceased veterans and crew members of the U.S.S. James Madison SSBN 627 and to provide comfort to their survivors.
In furtherance of this portion of our mission, the page entitled "Rest Your Oars" on this website shall list the names of our shipmates who have passed before us. There are no restrictions with regard to how or when they passed, it is important that our fellow shipmates be remembered and this is one way to do that.

With this criteria consistently applied, at some point in time every crew member of the Madison would eventually be listed there.

The integrity of that listing is also very important. (Neither you nor I ever wish to read our names listed there, especially when our names don't belong there yet.) If you know (with certainty) of a Madison shipmate who should be listed, please forward that name for inclusion. If you have heard but cannot confirm that a shipmate's name belongs there, it would be appreciated if you would forward that information -- along with your source, if possible -- to website@ussjamesmadison627.com and/or to our secretary for further investigation.
