1978 Blue Crew video

Post by Clyde (Chip) Porter »

This film was made in the first half of 1978. It starts at the Charleston, SC Air Force base with the USS James Madison SSBN-627 Blue crew as we are leaving to relieve the Gold crew in Holy Loch, Scotland.

The video starts with the Blue Crew as we were leaving Charleston, on the plane and when we first relieved the Gold crew. Some of the “on board” submarine shots are my crew but the majority of filming was a conglomeration of several boats, the USS Henry Stimson & James Madison to name 2 of them. Missile hatches with the Playboy bunnies were not the Madison. Ours were painted as pool table balls.
