4 knots to Nowhere

Post by rmbowen »

Four knots to Nowhere
What a strange thing war has become;
We wait to receive a command,
An order we pray never comes.

Four knots to nowhere;
We cruised in an underwater groove
With 16 guns in a black steel tube
To deter an aggressor’s deadly first move.

Alone in the worlds deep oceans,
Forty-one wandered like orphaned waifs,
Making four knots to nowhere
To keep our nation safe.

Four knots to nowhere;
Our enemies are still in our sights.
With bigger guns cocked and ready,
Submarines still prevent the apocalyptic fight.

So, Four knots to nowhere,
Has become our cold, lonely plight.
But four knots to nowhere
Was our unseen gift on Christmas night.

Man that's freaking awesome Roy...My latest poem has a quote from one of your poems and one of Poe's...Check it out when you get a chance...I quoted my two favorites in the same poem...
