Eternity Smiles

Post by rmbowen »

Here is a poem the ladies will love. I think the Grandpas out there will like it as well.

Eternity Smiles

Whenever I see an infant, sweet memories flash across time:
Holding my first child in my arms, Being captured by her sweet baby charms.
I see little hands reaching up for mine; Smiles holding the promise of love.
Blue eyes that widen in surprise As tiny fingers find a stubble of beard.
These memories fill me with peace Sent straight from Heaven above.
And I recall asking a question, During those early moments of bliss,
“Could the future hold a single moment Filled with love as precious as this?”
But with each child I asked the same question - As I held them so long ago;
For my mind was searching for answers That only my heart would know.
Oh, how years seem to race! My children have babes of their own.
Yet when their children are in my embrace, I feel that time has simply stood still;
And as I look into their faces those smiles whisper more about love and life
Than books or poems or time ever will.
For, once again, little hands reach up to touch; And blue eyes look back at blue.
Those eyes sparkle like morning dew As tiny fingers trace wrinkles on my face.
And smiles form that sweetly say, “Hello, … I know you!”
Their smiles tell me love can’t be compared or measured;
That love transcends life and time and place.
That these moments should just be embraced As jewels of life’s greatest treasures.
For my heart has finally found the answer to the question I posed long ago:
In this life there is nothing I would rather do, No time or place I would rather be;
Than holding my grandchildren in my arms Watching Eternity smile back –
At me.

Thanks for saying so, Admin, I wasn't sure about putting this one up since the only tie to the 627 was an 'ol Grandpa. I was just looking at the number of reads.... it is pushing toward 200 reads in two and a half months. Apparently no one has complained about it not being directly tied to service. Or... maybe.... most ALL of us are now 'ol grandpaws. :smt006
