Time Regulation

One of my watch stations was the EPCP. I had to twist the knobs that controlled the regulators that controlled the speed (frequency) and voltage of the ship's SSTGs that normally supplied electricity for the entire ship. 95% of the time it was pretty boring, so I thought a lot about what I would do during off crew.
At some point the desire hit me to have the ability to control time. I wanted a knob to turn to speed up time when on the ship; then slow it WAY down during off crew.
Yes, I know it would be a dirty trick for the other crew. Anyway it gave me the idea for this poem I sent to my girlfriend:
Time Regulation
Let the days pass
Until we’re together.
I won’t slow their stride;
For their hours lack season
And soon grow dull
If you’re not by my side.
But when I’m with you,
I beg them stay;
To slow their pace a while.
For every second that passes us by
Is made sweeter by your smile.
