Sleepless Nights

Post by KellyJoeRay »

I guess we have all had "channel fever" or have experienced being "slept out"...
Here is a poem I wrote in 1976 or 1977 I think...It's not a song...But I bet most of you can "feel my pain"...

SLEEPLESS NIGHTS

Dreams that haunt my rest.
Fears that cloud my sight.
I try to shut them out.
They don't listen...

Endless wonder in my head.
Mountains, streams, butterflies.
I reach out to hold them.
They are gone...

Birds that fly, flowers cry.
Stars falling from the sky.
They don't hear me calling.
They don't care...

Mighty ocean, tiny brook.
Infinite highway, country road.
When I close my eyes to sleep.
You keep me up...

I love you.
You are my life.
I'm willing to sacrifice.
All for you.
Still again.
Sleepless nights...

KJ Ray,

This is beautiful. Yes, I feel your pain. I got flashbacks - Been there - Done that. We are definately kindred spirits. I can hardly wait to read the next one. Keep them comming!!
