Robert P. Carl Jr., 72, of Fredericktown, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in his home.
He was born September 18, 1943, in Vestaburg, a son of the late Robert P. and Marie J. Ferrari Carl Sr.
Mr. Carl was a 1962 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School.
He honorably served with the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 2003.
After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Carl worked for various companies in the electronics and electrical fields. He was also employed by J&L Steel's Vesta No. 5 Mine for several years.
He was a longtime member of St. Oliver Plunkett Church, Fredericktown.
Mr. Carl was a member of Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391, Fredericktown, East Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a member for 10 years, and Beallsville Lodge 237, F&AM, where he served as past master.
He enjoyed woodworking, wine making, tinkering in his shop and riding his motorcycle.
On January 21, 1967, he married Patricia A. Watson Carl, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Robin Rossell (Stanley Jr.) of Coal Center; a son, James R. Carl (Marcia) of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Jobie Rossell, Shyanne Hilliard, Jordan Rossell and Melanie Carl; a sister, Cecelia Phillips (John) of Vestaburg; two brothers, Hubert Carl (Loretta) of Scenery Hill and Patrick Carl of Uniontown; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Sandra Hustava and Amelia Grimes.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street, Fredericktown, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, with the Rev. Paul Grunebach officiating. Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, with military rites accorded by Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391, Fredericktown. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to Jen Fund, P.O. Box 64, Clarksville, PA 15322.
