John Guy Cesare, Jr. (Blue RCA 1972-1976)

Post by Board Admin »

I do not know the exact dates of the service aboard the James Madison, but John G. (Guy) Cesare, Jr. served aboard the Madison for some time (and he took great pride in it). Following his service in the Navy, he worked as a nuclear engineer in various capacities for several companies (though he took a sabbatical to also attend seminary and teach high school as well). He was stricken with cancer in late 2012 and succumbed to the disease on January 8 of this year.

For those who may be interested, from Guy’s CaringBridge page, this is the information on the funeral and memorial service arrangements:

It is with mixed emotions that we share with you that Guy passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 8th. We will all surely miss Guy but are comforted in knowing that he is now in Heaven with our Lord and no longer suffering. Please know that your love and prayers brought enormous comfort and strength to Guy.

Friends may call at Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home, 6500 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212 on Friday, January 17th from 2 - 4pm and 7- 9pm. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday, January 18th at 12 Noon at St. Ignatius Church - 740 North Calvert Street, Baltimore, MD 21202.

A Memorial Mass will also be held in Vicksburg, MS on Saturday, February 1st at 11am at St. Paul Catholic Church.

There will be a private internment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Guy‘s name to Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Institute – 401 North Broadway, Ste 1100, Baltimore MD 21187.
