Recieved this information via email about a shipmate from the late 70's, early 80's.
A friend/co-worker of mine who was on the Gold Crew (I think) who recently passed away due to some sudden heart problems. His name was Paul Martin and he was an EM.
Their company newsletter posted a story about his sudden passing which you can read at the link=>

Footnote from Keith: I remember Paul standing SRO watches during the Trident refit/refueling (which was combined crew) and thought he was an ET. But the memory fades a bit.

I'm probably wrong but it seems to me that EMs could qualify as a SRO. Of course, what do I know - I was a MM and never had to worry about maneuvering quals.

Yeah, I know that EMs did qualify and stand (or sit) SRO, but I was still thinking he was ET.

Paul was an ET. I'm the one that provided the original info about his passing. Paul was a great guy. Funny... At his passing, he was a reactor operator at a civilian, BWR reactor plant, Clinton Power Station, Clinton, IL.

I'm Paul's oldest son, Aaron. Hello!
The link above doesn't work any more. Here's a link to the local obit:
http://www.pantagraph.com/news/local/ob ... ed41b.html
He had a very sudden aortic aneurysm and passed soon after in hospital. We were all really shocked; he had never had a bad checkup in his life. He was a CRO at the power plant in Clinton, Illinois for 25 years. He really enjoyed it and received several citations for outstanding job performance.
He was proud of his service in the Navy and aboard the Madison. I know he told us stories about life on the boat, but I don't remember a lot of them. I'd love to hear from anyone who knew my dad then. Thank you!

Good to hear from you, Aaron. It's that time of year when we especially miss our Dads.
