info needed from a mess cook
info needed from a mess cook
I'm sure we probably had it on the boat for breakfast but I definitly remember it in Boot Camp. For many years now I been trying to duplicate a breakfast dish that consisted of ground hamburger, a tomato base, probably onions and gosh knows what else. I guess you might call it a hamburger golash without the vegetables (except the onions) that was normally served with fried potatoes.
Is there a cook out there who might remember what the actual ingredients were?
TIA,
Jeff

Can't help with the "recipe", welcome to the new site. Are you really, really sure it's something you want to attempt to duplicate?
I'm not sure if I remember that stuff, or if my imagination is running rampant. I always preferred a fried egg-and-corn beef hash sandwich on buttered toast. "And make the hash a little crispy, please."

Re: MINCED BEEF
Hi Tony,
Thanks so much for taking the time to provide the recipe. I will try it out in the near future and see if it's as good as my recollection says it was.

Re: MINCED BEEF
Tony,
Its been close to 40 years since I've last had this dish, but I think, "that's the breakfast dish I remember!" I tried your recipe and it tastes good to me. It's a little thicker than I remember so I will probably use less flour next time. Thanks again!
