I myself just got a 05 VTX1300. I just wanted to see what you have for a bike if you do.
This is my 10 year old riding it around the yard.

Very nice!! I looked at that one, love the candy red.
Short history: bought a new '03 Kawasaki 800 Classic from a dealer going out of business in Apr '04. Traded up to a '04 Kaw 1500 Classic in March '05 (that's when I seriously considered the 1300). In the winter '06, I changed pipes, rejetted the carb, removed all the EPA crap, and put hard bags on.
So...how'd you get a pic in the post?

Rich, what is your major malfunction ?
Rich,
thanks for the pic, bored in Mexico and surfing the messages, What a bike ! Drive safe and look out for bad car drivers.
During my interesting years in Charleston I remember saying once to myself, in a year I'll be either married or consoling myself on a hog (the motorcycle kind, you perverts). Neither happen.
The closest I get to riding a bike is driving my WW2 Dodge truck open cap with the windshield down on the Houston freeways. The feeling is undescribable (holding to the steering wheel at 50 MPH), just have to check that all organs are in place and that I didn't lose any fillings from the shaking and rattling.
See you in New London,
Grady

Re: Rich, what is your major malfunction ?
About 10 yrs. back I had an old jeep like that. Had little brakes, no windshield, and barely any suspension. I used it mostly for field/woods playing but sometimes would take it on the street.gradyh627 wrote:Rich,

Ok y'all, I'm gonna try to link to a photobucket.com album for a couple of pics. Keeping in mind that computers hate me, here goes: This is my '04 Kawasaki 1500 Classic with new pipes, breather, handlebar risers, run/brake/turn signals with clear lenses, hard bags, and more.
Did it work? Can you see it?

Hi Cliff, and welcome! I did some serious drooling on the '05 Nomad, the dark blue and silver, but decided I wasn't ready for that much geezer factor .
Inserting a pic isn't too difficult if you have an online photo album. Check this out viewtopic.php?t=179
I use photobucket.com- it's free, easily manageble as far as separate albums (folders) for different subjects, etc. Like with any other data file, keep your treasured photos on a cd in a safe place. To insert: click on the Img tag, copy the img from the photo, paste it, click on close tag, done!
And as a Kawi rider, have you checked out this?

It's privately owned, closely monitored, and a wealth of info from around the world.

I hope this works. This is a pic of my scooter while we were on one of our many trips. I belong to an MC. So I had to have a good size cruzer. It is better than a goldwing! Thanks Russ for the help. I just hope that I did it right.

It worked!! Nice ride! I take it you ride alot of miles, then? I did about 6500 in '04, but I had an 800 Classic. Last year I traded up to the 1500 Classic and logged about 8800. This year only about 4000, but I also got married & bought a house. Moving still sux the life outta you and leaves little time for anything other than the daily commute.

Nice bike Jeff. I looked at a Yami a few weeks ago (not seriously, just killing time)- it was an '07 something-or-other 1300cc, 4 cyl, liquid cooled cruiser with hardbags, fairing, floorboards, etc. Veeeerrrrry nice!! How long did it take you to get used to the windshield? I've had the hardware mounted on 2 bikes for 3 years, but have installed the screen only 2 or 3 times. I find it more comfortable to use a 3/4 helmet with a snap-on visor. The wind that comes up from the bottom and around the tank when the screen is on is, IMHO, is very annoying. I'd rather put on the raingear and tough it out than deal with the updraft.JSloan wrote:I ride my V-Star most everywhere. Tried to get my wife one, but she prefers to ride with me. This pic is from awhile ago, but I don't have many recent pics. Since this photo, I've added lights and a few other things.
And consider yourself lucky (maybe!!) that your wife will ride with you: my wife rode with me 1 time, hated it all the while, and will probably never get on it again.

Y'know, I've ridden bikes that the design sent the wind swirling about because of the shield, but this bike is actually just the opposite. The design shape of the V-Star makes it easier with than without the shield. I take it off on occasion, but for long trips, it stays.
I had ridden dirt bikes all through high school, but didn’t ride much until I retired. I found that the V-star is a really comfortable fit for my short legs. I also like the shaft drive. As for my wife, she has logged about 15,000 miles with me. We don’t do many large rides, but we get up on weekends and decide to go on rides that may be several hundred miles and last two days.
