Classifications and Security

I had an email asking about a particular photograph someone had and whether it would be okay to post it on our website.
I did a little research on the question about security and classification and how we got assurances that it would be okay to publish something. I found this http://www.navysecurity.navy.mil/docume ... pubrvw.pdf (requires adobe pdf reader) and then picked up the phone.
What he basically told me was that it would depend on how detailed the photograph was.
While we were on the phone, I gave him the link to our online photo albums. They are going to take a look at what we have posted and let me know if anything we have posted needs to come down as well.
The brochure referenced above gives the procedure for getting something approved prior to publication. If you have a photo that you have considered sharing but hesitated because of security classifcations, we now have a process and a point of contact to get the question answered.
