Shipyard Visits

Post by Fred/Charline Huwe »

Does anyone remember if there were other shipyard visits after 1969 and where they were? If there were more in New London, then more of the guys will enjoy the reunion in 2007.

The boat was in Newport News SB&DD Co. when I reported on board in Feb '80. Seems now like eternity we spent there, but I think it was really more like 14 months. Keith will help us out with this.....

I often tell folks that I spent the last 27 months of an 18 month overhaul in Newport News.
I arrived in January 1980, the boat had been there about 6 months when I got there. Betty moved out of the house in Hampton VA April 20, 1982 while I rode the boat down to Chas'n.
