Daulbaugh, Jerry L. MISSING 8/17/1972 TMSA
Daulbaugh, Jerry L. MISSING 8/17/1972 TMSA I was on the "Growing up Ohio Style" Facebook page and mentioned the Madison cooks in a comment about S.O.S. to which Jan Daulbaugh sent a reply. Our conversation is copied and pasted below: Jan Daulbaugh Gouch Clyde W. Porter Jr. My brother, Jer...

Re: Navy time vs. Civilian Time
I walked over to the Madison after spending 7 months in Holy Loch on the Los Alamos to join the Blue crew. We flew back to Charleston for off-crew the next day. Since I spent that night aboard I always said that I did 6 patrols and 1 night aboard the Madison.

Re: EMCS (SS), William Max Allen
It was a privilege to be the engineroom upper level with Chief Allen as my Engineering Watch Supervisor. We had plenty of good enjoyable conversations. The fact that he is a Pittsburgh Steeler fan only made him more favorable as my supervisor.
My you rest peacefully dear friend.

1978 Blue Crew video
This film was made in the first half of 1978. It starts at the Charleston, SC Air Force base with the USS James Madison SSBN-627 Blue crew as we are leaving to relieve the Gold crew in Holy Loch, Scotland. The video starts with the Blue Crew as we were leaving Charleston, on the plane and when we fi...

Re: So what's stopping you?
Attended reunions in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2009. A lack of work seniority prevents me from taking any vacation in June or July. Last minute vacation cancellations by co-workers allowed me to attend in 2007 & 2009 but it was too late for my wife to get the off work time. Since the vacation slots ...

Re: XO Hanging
Frank,
It was mentioned a while back in a thread about the "flooding " patrol but we just called it the machinery 1 incident. CMDR Clark became our new XO.

Re: Identifying Shipmates
Keith,
Donald H Perkins is probably Harper & Joe E Pederson is probably the Joe Ed that I knew. The time frame & ranks look right but I thought Joe Ed's last name was spelled with a "t".
Thanks

Re: Identifying Shipmates
I noticed a couple of Texans are not on the list: Joe Ed Peterson , Blue 75' thru at least 78', Nuke ET, at least 2nd class but probably 1st class. Made at least all 6 patrols that I did. Was a guitar player from Waco, Texas that liked playing John Denver music. Harper Perkins , one of the blue crew...

Re: Salute
Lately I have been assisting the local American Legion honor guard (as a member of USSVI) in funeral services. The participants of the service each pay tribute to the deceased veteran with a salute and then offer an invitation to any veteran in attendance to come forward to also pay tribute with a h...

Re: Patrol Pin Stars
Since my DD 214 did not include my patrol pin I had filed for a DD 214 correction. Although it took about 3 years I finally did receive a "DD 215" (Correction to DD Form 214). I made 6 patrols & Item 5 on the DD 215 included the following: ADD: SEA SERVICE DEPLOYMENT RIBBON, SSBN DETER...

Re: selecting 2013 reunion time
Unfortunately June & July are an impossibility for me. Fourteen weeks are already closed by the time I get the vacation schedule - too junior on seniority. May, August, & September are the nearest that I can come to having vacation in the summer so I will have to settle for catching up with ...
